A letter from our Principal, Ken Wiseman:
Parents,
Unprecedented is a term that is being thrown around a lot lately, obviously with good cause.
This morning I emailed a letter to you saying Nolan Creek School would be open for class this Monday, March 23. That is not the case. We will be staying closed for another 2 weeks with a reopen date of Monday, April 6.
We have been and will continue to monitor the news, local, state and national agency updates and will continue to align our protocols with those agencies. We will post updates on our website and will also keep you updated by email.
We will also continue with our Continuity of Instruction efforts. Blackboard is our primary information platform, but we are also using other modes of communication as well. We are looking at your comments and feedback as well as assessing how your students are able to access and do assignments. We are studying how our students are faring in this effort. Do the hard copies that you pick up or assignments delivered through email work best? Or does working on a curriculum publisher’s website deliver the better instructional bang for the buck?
Our focus during this time is for our students to continue to grow intellectually and academically. It’s not about grades, but it is about learning. We are striving to partner with you to facilitate their work at learning. We do not want to give you additional responsibilities for your child’s schoolwork.
In our Circle of Courage Independence is one of its compass points. It would make all this commotion worthwhile, if, after all is said and done, our students can say that they found out they are the ones that are in control of their learning.
Stay in touch. Stay calm and do not hesitate to email or call if you have questions or concerns.

Orenda Public Charter School District and Nolan Creek School have been monitoring developments in the community and area schools related to the coronavirus. We have been in contact and collaboration with the Bell County Health Department. While the risk is still low for Nolan Creek School at this time, we feel it is best to close school from March 16 - 20 to limit our staff and students exposure to coronavirus. This will also give us additional time for cleaning and disinfecting before returning to campus. School will resume on Monday, March 23rd. We will continue to closely monitor the situation on a daily basis and will send communication to families and staff on Tuesday and Friday next week.
